Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Sweep Contacts (the "App") accesses information when you use it. Sweep Contacts is a mobile utility that lets you swipe through your iPhone contacts to keep, delete, rename, or merge them — entirely on your device. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
2. Information We Access
2.1 Contact Data
With your permission, the App reads contacts stored on your iPhone — including names, phone numbers, email addresses, and contact photos — for the sole purpose of displaying them to you and acting on the choices you make (keep, delete, rename, merge).
- Where this data lives: only on your device, inside iOS's Contacts framework. It is never transmitted to any server, including ours.
- When the App writes back: if you rename a contact or merge duplicates, the App updates the corresponding contact in your iPhone's address book directly. No copy of the change is sent off the device.
- Deletion: contacts you "delete" in the App move to an in-app Bin and are restorable for 7 days. Permanent deletion only affects your local address book — no remote copies exist.
2.2 App Usage Data Stored Locally
The App keeps a small local log on your device of the actions you take inside it (which contacts you swiped and when). This is used to power your cleanup score, streak, and the 7-day undo bin. It never leaves the device and is wiped if you delete the App.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not have user accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, no email collection.
- We do not operate any backend or cloud storage. The App has no server-side component.
- We do not collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage statistics.
- We do not access your call logs, messages, photos (outside contact images), location, microphone, or camera.
- We do not sell or share contact data with any third party. There is no contact data to share — none of it leaves your device.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Google AdMob
The App displays advertising provided by Google AdMob. AdMob is owned and operated by Google. When ads are shown, the AdMob SDK may collect limited information — such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), general region, and ad interaction events — to serve ads and measure performance.
- The App requests non-personalized ads only. This means AdMob does not use your IDFA to build a user profile for targeted advertising.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising entirely via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or by disabling "Allow Apps to Request to Track."
- Google's handling of advertising data is described in the Google Ads Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
4.2 WhatsApp Deep Links
The App provides a button to open a contact's chat in WhatsApp. Tapping it hands the phone number to WhatsApp via a standard iOS deep link. The App does not exchange any data with WhatsApp servers itself; from that point on, WhatsApp's own policies apply.
5. iOS Permissions
The App requests two iOS permissions, each shown to you with an explanation before access is granted:
- Contacts: required to read and update your address book inside the App. You may revoke this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → Sweep Contacts. Revoking it disables the App's core functionality.
- Tracking (AdMob): shown when iOS prompts the App's use of the advertising identifier. As noted above, the App only requests non-personalized ads, so denying this prompt does not affect functionality — only ad relevance.
6. Children's Privacy
Sweep Contacts is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a manner that requires our attention, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.
7. Data Security
Because the App does not transmit, sync, or store your contact data outside your device, the security of that data depends on the security of your iPhone — your passcode, biometric lock, and iOS itself. We recommend keeping iOS up to date and using device-level encryption (enabled by default on modern iPhones).
8. Your Rights
Since the App does not collect or store your contact data on any server, there is no centralized record to request, export, or delete. Everything is on your device and under your control at all times. To remove all App data, simply uninstall Sweep Contacts.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will note them inside the App on the next launch.
